2024. Will it get better?

2024 has gotten off to a really rough start for me. I got Covid right at the new year. Fortunately, it was not horrible. I felt like I had a bad cold…although I do have a bad cold right now ( May 13, 2024) and it isn’t that much fun.

What was really an impact to me, my year, my pottery, and my life, was that I was struck (down) by a city street tree (a palm tree), and spent several days in the ICU, and then spent over a month in a skilled nursing rehab center. I do not recommend this for anyone, btw. Several months later, I am doing relatively well. The 12-14 fractures ( foot, pelvis and thoracic spine - maybe a rib) are healing well. I am walking about 2 miles a day without any cane or walker. I am weaning myself off the back brace, and am continuing my rehab with my Kaiser PT and my new membership at the Y. The overwhelming love and support I have felt from my friends and family continues to nourish my body and spirit. I could not have done this without everyone’s help.

I have not gotten back to my old schedule at the studio…but hope to do so in the next month or so. Open Studios will be here in October, so I need to get busy!!
